Micro film/fiche

What exactly is Micro film/fiche?
“A continuous roll of photographic film used for storing miniaturized text and/or microimages in a linear array which can be magnified and copied only with the aid of a reader-printer machine. Some back files of periodicals are routinely converted to microfilm to save space. Reader/printer machines are available in the Library for viewing and making hard copies.”

The library has a collection of local newspapers dating from as early as 1883. These include The Selkirk Record, The Selkirk Herald, The Selkirk Expositor, The Selkirk Enterprise and other various publications.

We can also try to obtain other Micro film/fiche from other libraries upon request. To find out more about what can be viewed on micro film/fiche, please visit the Archives of Manitoba Microfilm Program to view a list of what is available.
